Biographybooks/authors I like: I am a total bookworm. Some of my favorite authors include a wide range consisting of Frank Herbert (The Dune series), Robert Ludlum (Bourne series), Edith Wharton (The Age of Innocence), P.G. Wodehouse (surprisingly, although I adore the Jeeves series, my favorite is A Damsel in Distress), George Orwell (1984 and Animal Farm), William Golding (Lord of the Flies), Jorges Louis Borges, Franz Kafka, Fyodor Dostoevsky, and Jane Austen (but ONLY Pride & Prejudice) Opinion of Harry Potter: well, I may have made it obvious enough through my disclaimers, but—in general—I’m just not all that fond of the books. In my, oh so humble, opinion they’re just not that good. Her prose is nothing particularly awe-worthy, the ideas is like a bad rip-off of Tolkien—at least comparatively—and every creature that you see in there is one that you ca easily see in Borges’s The Book of Imaginary Beings. I genuinely think that her book should come with a disclaimer, she claims to manipulate the old lores to her own specifications, but she doesn’t manipulate it nearly enough for it rto constitute as her own. What I will say, however, is that she had some amazing characters—apart from Ginny, though. But I must say that even that is oddly reminiscent to the people that were in the Fellowship of the Ring... movie and TV: I am a TV whore, it’s a sad truth, but a truth nonetheless, there really is no other word for it. as for movies I own about 500 DVDs and I know so many movies by heart that it's really rather disgusting free time: swimming, watching a good soccer match (especially if Hans Lehmann is playing—God he’s an amazing goalie), |
