Happy April, UR!

Hourglass Awards Judging Pool

Hourglass Award nominations close tonight (1 April, 2007) at 11:59pm PDT. Hourglass Award Nominations are closed. But the Awards aren't over yet!

Similar to the Judging Pool for Scrivenshaft, we're looking for volunteers to be judges in the Hourglass Awards. Volunteers will be assigned a category to judge along with specific criteria for the judging process. This is your way to be a part of the Awards process! No author will judge a category in which they've been nominated.

We plan on keeping this as fair and professional as possible. What we want is for you to be a part of this. You read, you nominate, you get to vote! Make sure the best fic wins!

If you're interested in joining the Hourglass Award Judging Pool -

volunteer here!

Simply fill out the form (which is also found in your MemCP)! Volunteers must sign up by 15 April 2007. Any questions, feel free to ask Christy or Missy.

Scrivenshaft Challenge Cycle X: The Ides of March

Don't forget that Cycle X of the Scrivenshaft Challenge ends on 15 April, 2007. It's a great prompt, so get those entries in!

The Owl Post

It's almost here - the first issue of the first volume of UR's very own newsletter, The Owl Post (TOP)! TOP will be released this month! TOP Owls (staff) are very excited and have been working hard on what they hope you'll find interesting and informative articles. Regular columns will be accompanied by editorials, essays, interviews and more! Keep an eye out for the release!

Donations

It's getting to that time again, time when UR has bills to pay. The generosity of many UR members has kept this site running, and continues to be the source of UR funds. From these funds, UR Admins are able to pay the bills associated with running the site, including additional improvements. The Admins and staff of UR do not profit from these gains; all money is directly funneled back into UR. UR has until July to, once again, come up with enough money. If you'd like to help, there are a few easy ways to donate. Just visit the donations page for more details or email me at missers@unknowableroom.org!

A Future Site Challenge

The month of April brings about changes. The seasons change and our mindset and priorities change with it. It's a time to try something new, to challenge yourself.

In a recent poll here on UR, more than half of those who participated responded that reviews on stories are very important. However, an overwhelming majority admitted that they only review on occasion - when they really enjoy the fic or the mood strikes them. UR is looking for a way to challenge you to meet yourself in the middle. Look for more information coming in the near future.

Looks like April is warming up to be an exciting month! As always, feel free to contact one of us with questions or comments (or, of course, simply comment here)!

Make sure you get those Scrivenshaft entries in and sign up to be a part of the Hourglass Award Judging Pool!
