Hourglass Awards

The Hourglass Awards edition of 2007 has been relaunched! Due to technical difficulties, we were unable to access the nominations made in January, so we'd like to ask you to nominate your favourite fics once more:

Start nominating!

Rules

You can nominate fics hosted both at UR or elsewhere.

You cannot nominate your own fics.

Fics cannot be nominated twice; please review the information on categories below so that you do not submit your nomination under the wrong category.

If you have any problems with the nomination form, or doubts about the Houglass Awards in general, feel free to go to the forums, comment in this post, send me an email at christycorr@livejournal.com, or whatever other means of contacting staff members you can think of.

Categories

Best Overall Fic: Are all the categories below simply not enough for a fic? Do you believe it goes beyond simply romance, or humour, or drama, or even novel-length? Is it the best, or at least one of the best fics you have ever read in your life? This is just the category you're looking for, then!

Best Novel-length Fic: These fics transcend genre; their strength is in the painstaking development of the plot in all the long chapters you have been forced to wait for, with no small amount of impatience.

Best One-Shot: One-shots nominated for this category should be insightful and stunning precisely for their... one-shot-ness. Oh, come on, you know what I'm talking about.

Best Drabble or Drabble Collection: Brilliance in brevity! Fics in this category should have no more than one thousand words (per drabble, in case of a collection of them), and use every single one of them in a way that leaves the reader flabbergasted and in wonder.

Best Heterosexual Romance Fic: any fic featuring a male/female romance with proeminence. The awards in this category will be twofold; nominees will be eventually sorted according to word count.

Best Slash Romance Fic: any fic featuring a male/male or female/female romance.

Best Drama Fic: any fic in which drama, and not fluffy romance or dark angst, defines how the plot unfolds.

Best Angst Fic: any dark, depressing or just plain sad fic that focuses primarily on the misery or pain of a given character.

Best Comedy Fic: humourous or hilarious fics of all kind.

Best Parody Fic: fic that mocks other fics, or fanon traits, or even canon itself.

Best NC-17 Fic: smut fic, featuring at least one hard-R/NC-17 scene.

Nominate your favourite fics here!

(If you disagree with the category into which a specific fic was sorted, feel free to drop me a line.)

I'd like to [finally] announce the winners of the January 2007 cycle of the Scrivenshaft Challenges! How about a round of applause for everyone who entered, as well as for the judges?

Thank you, everyone, for being so patient with me; I know the results are out a bit later than normal, and I'll try not to let it happen again.

Edit: And finally, the opening of Cycle X of the Scrivenshaft Challenges: The Ides of March!

This cycle will be open until April 15--I know that deviates a bit from our usual monthly cut-off, but have fun writing! Questions or comments regarding the prompt? Just comment below, or let me know over in the Forum.

Don't think that you have time to submit an entry? Why not join the Judging Pool? Remember that once you submit your name, it is vaild in the pool until December 31, 2007.

Have fun,
Erin
