Hi, everyone! :) If you don't know me, I'm Juli, and I'm not technically a mod, but I do some graphic design stuff for the site. I hope to update the CafePress shop before UR.org's one-year anniversary with some new designs, and who better to decide what the members want to buy than the members themselves? I've set up a thread in the forums here, so if you have any ideas or suggestions for the shop, go ahead and post - I can't wait to see what you guys come up with!

Before anything else is said, we, the Admins of this site, would like to thank all of our members. Your amazing support through all of our ups and downs leaves us speechless. The enthusiasm and feedback we receive is more gratifying than any heartfelt thank you could convey. What we do is inspired by you and for you and we hope that we are able to continue reaching our goals.

In mind with that, we'd also like to extend our sincere apologies. Over the course of the past year, we've been learning as we go and quite a few times we've made mistakes. All of us are busy and have lives outside of moderating this site. A few times in the past year, we've unfortunately let that push our responsibilities of the site to the side. It's never been intentional and we appreciate your understanding. Please know that we all do our best at being available and active here and that no one is ever ignored on purpose. We're still cleaning out the bugs and appreciate your patience with us.

As you know by now, our one year anniversary is coming soon. We put out the question, and boy, did you reply. =) We've begun preperations for quite a few different celebrations. We're hoping there's something for everyone, be you a writer, artist, or just a reader. A few areas on the site will be updated and/or finished, activities and challenges are planned as well as implementing fresh, new ideas. In fact, we've received so many great ideas, we're looking forward to the coming months in which we hope to fullfill as many of those suggestions as possible. Remember, the more active you are, the more you speak up, the more improvements we can make and the more flutter of excitement we can help produce.

Speaking of updates, the FAQ's have been updated again and three (3) new Let's Chat entries in our LJ thegreatbreak have been released. Two Let's Chat questions are also posted in the Quibbler forum. Please check them out and offer your opinions!

We look forward to the coming month and hope you do, too. Keep looking out for new Let's Chat entries, forum discussions and polls. Maybe you'll be able to piece together what we have planned...

Don't forget about Scrivenshaft Cycle VII! Get those submissions in before the deadline! Don't forget about the Judging Pool, either! Join in!

And please be advised of the change in our ToS regarding Photo Manipulations in the Fanart section. PhotoManips must be removed by the 25th of September. We are allowing the use of the PhotoManips Forum to remain.

~missers, on behalf of the UR.org Admins~

Just a reminder for everyone to participate in Scrivenshaft Cycle VII - The True Rendition

Also, don't forget to sign up for the Judging Pool. As we all know, the Challenges are driven by participation--if you don't participate, they don't run. (As of now, only 1% of UR.org members are participating in the Challenges in some form or another... so lets get on it!)

Edit: Check out the new communities page,
The Quibbler!
You've asked for interviews, and we're delivering--this is the place to find interviews with the UR.org members that you choose! Stop by The Quibbler forum and let us know who you want interviewed, and what you'd like to know about them!

Have a great day,
Erin

Okay, so we've noticed that photomanipulations still seem to be an issue in the fanart section. Therefore, we now have a new policy.

As of September 25, 2006, no photomanipulations will be allowed in the fanart section of ur.org. No exceptions. If you want to post photomanipulations, there is a section in the forums where you can post them, with the source of the original photo appropriately cited.

If you have posted photomanipulations in the fanart section and they are not removed by September 25, they will be deleted.

In other news, why don't you pop over to thegreatbreak and offer suggestions for our one-year anniversary, which is fast approaching? Or go ahead and comment here; we'd love to have your ideas!

New Feedback Program

One thing we, the Admins, value is your feedback. It's very important to us to know what you, the member, is thinking, what you're wanting, and any ideas or suggestions you may have for us. Part of our mission in hosting this site is that it remain a community based archive. An archive where everyone feels at home, quite literaly.

In mind with that, every week or so, we will be asking questions in our Live Journal community, thegreatbreak" that we would like you to respond to. Questions will vary from asking you for suggestions or ideas to asking you how you feel about current programs or ideas we have. Sometimes, we may just ask curious questions to get everyone chatting. The entries will be entitled "Let's Chat" followed by a number. The first one is posted now.

The only catch is that in order to even see the entries, you must be a member of our LJ community, every post is f-locked. If you have any questions regarding LJ, how to join, or anything else related, don't hesitate to ask.

Many of you came to UR from thegreatbreak community. For those of you who didn't, this is the community where ideas were hatched and a place for those waiting for UR.org to be while the Admins worked on UR.org.

In order to join our LJ community, you need an LJ account. Then, all you do is join.

You can still use the forums on UR.org for things of this nature, as we will continue to do so as well. LJ allows for us to have conversations and to reply directly to people.

This is just another way for us to communicate with you and you, with us. So, look for the entries, and drop us your opinion. =)

I am pleased to announce that the Scrivenshaft Judging Pool is now open!

Please consider taking part if you are unable to submit an entry in this round, or would like to judge in the future! Remember, once you submit your name, it will stay in the pool until the New Year.

Also notice that the address for entry submission has been changed from scrivenshaft@unknowableroom.org to twinsuns@unknowableroom.org, for the time being. Please, if you have already submitted an entry, re-submit it to the new address if you want your entry to be judged.

Updates

Hello, Unknowableroom!

Just a few updates/reminders.

The Support page and donations page have been updated. The system of upgrading to a paid account is currently being worked on as well as new merchandise for our CafePress store. Notices for when these updates are completed will be announced.

Remember, Unknowableroom.org costs money to remain afloat and money is needed to continually better the site. We are also still in debt to our lovely admin, ChristyCorr, who generously donated much of the sites needed money in the past.

New polls have been activated. Voice your thoughts! These polls serve as both a small form of entertainment (for both you and the admins) as well as a way for us to recieve needed feedback.

Do you realize that in less than two months, UR.org will be celebrating its one year anniversary? We're hoping to celebrate by some festive activities. Look for more information to come soon. In the mean time, do you have any suggestions?

We hope everyone had great summers (those of you in the northern hemispere) or great winters (those of you in the southern hemisphere)! Good luck as most of us go back to school!
