Because it's like 3 AM and I'm bored and I just got finished with a fic (for another fandom) in which I killed off half my OTP, which got me thinking.

I know I'm not the only person to ever write a fic that just killed me dead inside. So, question! What's the most painful fic you've ever written?

I wrote this fic last summer (which has since been removed because I'm revamping the entire AU universe in which it's set) where Sirius is forced to beat the crap out of Remus. I don't know where the hell the inspiration for that one came from, but I actually rather liked it, despite how depressed I was afterward.

I had to write a good deal of Andromeda-deals-with-the-loss-of-her-family which had me going pretty emo for a while.

Painful because it sucked or painful because it was tragic?

It's probably a sign of epic failure as an author on my part, but I can't recall anyhting I've written that I found emotionally taxing to write. I think Valedictory is probably the closets I got, but I don't think I've ever made myself cry or anything (which people talk about doing)

LIRL, I hear Smeyer gets heartburn when writing the particularly ~heartwrenching~ sections of Bella + Edward's tru luv story.

Personally, I've never really... burned myself out writing, but I have gotten pretty deep into a character's head?

The sucking pain I am familiar with too both with fics that I have posted before and removed and fics that will never be posted. ^_^ I am aware that I'm not a very good writer in the first place but I've written stuff that make me want to 'headdesk'. Yeah.

As for the emotionally involved- I've always wanted to write one! But I just can't manage to get the emotion into writing as some others manage to do. Really, if you're one of those writers, how do you do it?

I am not really one to talk as me + writing = fail very often, but I am a dramatist, so the hysterical comes easily enough.

Well, I don't mean that in the literal sense, but er, live and let free? Act like a Twilighter would; pretend you're a Bella or something. Not the bit where you whinge and complain 24/7, but the bit where you fancy yourself in Bella's shoes and wildly in love with Edward.

OMFG. WHAT BAD ADVICE. WHY THE HELL AM I TELLING PEOPLE TO ACT LIKE A TWIHARD WOULD? OR LIKE BELLA? WTF.

Hahaha Chris, your displeased Nine icon came up with that and it amused me. Oh, icon generator, I love you.

I would attempt to give some kind of advice, Gul, but I am terrible at advising people about specifics like that.

Interesting side note on emotional!fic:

Once, in my sophomore health class, we had to write a fictional story revolving around an STD. I got gonorrhea (lol). And I wrote this overwrought, hyperdramatic story involving a pregnant woman whose gonorrhea caused her to have an ectopic pregnancy and die, die, DIE. It ended fantastically withher husband lying between the freshly dug graves of his beloved wife and lost daughter as the wife's best friend sobs hysterically and the [symbolic] rain comes pouring down. It was complete crap, and I was ashamed of every word on that page.

I got an A. And my health teacher wrote on it: "You have a way with words! You should be a writer!!"

True story, goys and dolls. True story.

*laughs*! I love it, Austin.

Oh man, STD!fics. I can't say I've read a lot of them, but I can honestly say I've never read a good one.

I've never even read an STD!fic. Well, the closest was the protagonist dissing the school whore or whatever. Yeah.

And you got an A on it Austin? Nice. =D Even though you think it was utter crap.
