She had already said it before. *shrugs* Even in that documentary with the Potter-Weasley family tree. Why do they report it as news?

Speaking of slow news days, does anyone (British, I'd expect) remember when there was a gas explosion in Hemel Hempstead and no one was hurt, but for the next three days BBC News 24 had this constant report: "In Hemel Hempstead there has been a gas explosion. No one was harmed. Firemen are fighting the fire which is neither growing nor shrinking."...."BBC can exclusively reveal that the fire has neither GROWN, nor SHRUNK."...."News 24 can report that the fire has Not Changed. We'll keep you updated."

/random.

I found it funny.

Yeah I heard about this. I don't think it's... too outrageous, other than sort of interesting and obviously I am glad she didn't off herself because a) suicide sucks b) what would I write shitty fanfics about, but... yeah. I don't think it's an OMG BIG DEAL! I saw the ontd post about it and one chick started complaining about OMG IF SHE UNDERSTANDS DEPRESSION WHY WAS SHE SUCH A BITCH TO CHO OMG OMG OMG. She even had an icon of Katie Leung's face that said NOT A HUMAN HOSEPIPE

And it made me laugh. Because seriously, who gives a shit about Cho? Seriously?

This was in the paper only on the front page they tried to make the story seem all suspenseful by being all 'Rowling Admits to Suicidal Thoughts' as if it was recent or something. Definitely a slow news day and this is not new at all.

I dunno, she does seem like a rather lame character to fangirl. Like, what do you write fanfic about? Her overly emo adolescence? Gosh, how interesting.

That's what I'm here for, Juli!

It just seems weird that of everything in the books to criticize someone chose the portrayal of Cho. LIRL

LIRL it was clearly an indication of Rowling's ~racist tendencies~ that she would portray Cho so poorly.

Jokes, jokes.

One of my pet fandom peeves is when people accuse Jo of being racist because of the small number of minority charaters in the books. And then when you point out that the number of those characters is proportional to the population of England, you are either ignored or flamed.

That's one of my pet peeves too, when people whine about that. Kind of related, I also hate when people belonging to a very small religious group will whine about how Jo is bigoted or whatever since she didn't include their religion in her books. I saw this one girl make a huuuuuge LJ post about how Jo sucks because she didn't include anyone practicing Scientology in the series and I was like "wtf???"
