Hey everyone! I haven't really been on in a month. *cringe* That whole going-to-Canada thing really drained me, and then all that homework, and then our spring musical...but now I'm here! And on spring break! So I shall post!

Yay!!

I was shoved in the choir room wearing a bad wig and layers of stage makeup. *shudder*

I liked Crazy For You too. My school did it when I wasi n 9th grade. In any case, it was infinitely superior to "The Boyfriend", which they did in grade 11 and which I firmly maintain is like, the worst play ever written.

Aw, you're back! :) Well, welcome back. It seems like everyone has decided to return right about now. Heh.

This is why I stuck to hanging around back stage and just making sure that no one screwed up the actual production (including myself). *nod*

I'm not much for "old Broadway" where it's all dance, silly plot, musical numbers just thrown in. Not my style. And I hate Westerns. So this really isn't the show for me. But we have a lot of talent, so it was fun. The tap dancing and costumes were amazing. Our featured dancers were so awesome! And when it comes down to it, I liked the songs. But all strung together, I just didn't like the overall show. :(

I think the thing about it was that last year's show was so much fun. We did Bye Bye Birdie, which I think is so kitschy and cute, And I had a lead (I was Mae Peterson), so I got to hang out backstage and get my makeup done professionally and become such good friends with the cast. We just had a blast the whole way through, from the read-through to the final performance. It was just so much fun. And I was talking to my friend, who was Rose last year and Tessie this year, and she agreed with me that the show just wasn't as fun. It was so much intense tap training that there wasn't time to mess around, and there weren't enough big company numbers to become really close to the whole cast.

I dunno. I just hope we do a really awesome musical next year. I seriously want the lead. It's been my goal since I was a little-bitty girl. =]

Yeah, that's kind of why I'm not a huge fan of "old Broadway." But man, I adore Bye Bye Birdie.

I think I have a soft spot for it because I saw it in London, and it was the first not-in-Arizona (i.e. good) show I ever saw.

I don't really like musicals, but I have random songs from here in there that I love oddly enough. it must be the inner Disney lover in me.

Heehee, Liz, I love Bye Bye Birdie too. =] It's just so over-the-top that it's hillarious, and anything with Chita Rivera is ok by me! I love the remake movie version with Vanessa Williams and Jason Alexander. Priceless!
